Were you taught that Agape is the Love of God, and is something that we can‘t attain?
Love G25 ἀγαπάω agapaō ag-ap-ah'-o Perhaps from ἄγαν agan (much; or compare [H5689]); to love (in a social or moral sense): - (be-) love (-ed). Compare G5368.
Agapaho is not the same word, is it? --to love in a social or moral sense? God? There it is, the truth. Let us rejoice in it! Let us learn from the Word of God, give Him the Glory, and be blessed: Agape is Affection or Benevolence. Agape is what is expected, without which, you are nothing. Agape is not something that God works on you about. It is His New Testament Commandment, and the way people can tell if we are Christians.
Have you ever heard of a “feast of charity“? I had never heard of it until only recently. Feast of charity is actually off the subject, but I will cover it in another study.
1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charityG26, I am nothing.
Isn’t it Love to feed the poor? Isn’t it Love to lay down my life for my friends? Though I do these, and have not affection or benevolence, it profits me nothing. So verse three makes sense, but we‘re not used to it.
1Co 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charityG26, it profiteth me nothing.
Yehoshua made us free from the curse of the law(Gal 3:13*), and gave us commandment to love one another(John 13:34**). Yes, love is something we are expected to do! These things in the next verses, are the things we do to nurture our relationships; do the opposite, and we get hurt and discontent. Paul tells us how to love:
1Co 13:4 CharityG26 suffereth longG3114, and is kindG5541;charity enviethG2206 not; charity vauntethG4068 not itself, is not puffed upG5448,

As always, I am open to correction from the Word of God. Only angry rebuke won’t cut it. I humbly submit myself to counsel that is thoughtful and edifying.
In the Name of Yehoshua HaMashiach, and in His love,
