Baptism is a hard subject, and here is why:

--The Word means to make fully wet

G907
βαπτιìζω
baptizō
bap-tid'-zo
From a derivative of G911; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash.

--The Baptism of John; he baptized with water, and taught the baptism of repentance.
Mar 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

--John baptized with water, but Jesus will baptize with the Holy Ghost, and Fire.
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

--The baptism of John is something to believe.
Mat 21:25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

--Jesus was baptized by John, and then later He said:
Luk 12:49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
Luk 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

--There is the baptism into the body of Christ:
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

--And there is One Baptism
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

========

--So, there’s
the baptism of repentance (teaching),
the baptism in water (getting wet),
the baptism in the Holy Ghost (receiving power),
the baptism in fire (a fire kindled, and spreading),
the baptism of Jesus (His mission--It is finished),
the baptism into His body, and His death (buried with Him)

One Baptism.

--If the one baptism is only one, and not several, then there's a problem. Water baptism would negate the baptism of fire, and the others, and the others negate each other.  'lots of room for disagreement and arguments.

--But what if the one baptism is that of the Holy Spirit (not charismatic gifts).

--The Holy Spirit is the Word of God (John 1).
--The baptism (mission) is the teaching of the “Logos”
--The teaching of repentance (thinking differently) fits into the mission of spreading fire on the earth (the Gospel).
--Being immersed in water (part of the teaching) is a metaphoric symbol of being immersed into the body of Christ, and becoming dead to the law.
--To be baptized in the Holy Spirit is to receive, and believe the teaching of the Word of God.
--To walk in the Spirit is to walk in His teaching.
--To walk in the Spirit is to walk in Love.
--To walk in the Spirit is to walk in the fruit of the Spirit.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. . .[the works of the flesh]
. . .Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

--What am I missing?
