Continuity Old and New Testaments
Continuity in the Scriptures
Old Testament--If you do what I say, I will bless you.
Gen 4 Cain killed his brother
Gen 6 The “giants” are not dinosaurs, they are men who were tyrants, and taking too many women as wives.
Mankind, before the flood had no commandment of Yehovah other than “Be fruitful and multiply”. The wickedness of man in those days was not due to transgressions of Yehovah’s law. It seems good to reason, then, that they were violating laws of a more natural kind. It’s not very fruitful to be killing the people who help you to survive, or having only a few tyrants taking all of the women for themselves. It was so messy, that Yehovah had to reboot.
Gen 9 The Covenant with Noah
After the flood, the Covenant was that Yehovah would not again destroy the earth with a flood, and man is not to eat flesh with the blood. Man is not to shed man’s blood. This is the time when Abram (Abraham) came to be.
Yehovah made a covenant with Abraham, in which Yehovah will bless the nations through Abraham’s descendents, and Abraham will believe, and be circumcised.
Exodus 20 the Ten Commandments
Exodus 21-- The Judgments
Sure enough, Yehovah gave the Ten Commandments to Israel by Moses. Not only were there laws for men to respect each other, but also laws to respect Yehovah. After the Ten Commandments, are the Judgments: what to do with a thief, how to administrate servants, etc.
Man is to keep the commandments of Yehovah, and Yehovah will bless . . .
Exo 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
Exo 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Deu 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Deu 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Deu 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Jer 12:14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
Jer 12:15 And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
Jer 12:16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people. Jer 12:17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

Lev 26:27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
Lev 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
=
Deu 7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
Deu 7:13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
New Testament--Ye have heard them of old say, “Thou shalt not sin, but I say unto you that if you even want to, you’re guilty.
Matt 5 Even thinking about sinning.
Matt 18 Cut off your hand to keep from sinning.
Yehoshua taught that the law was not only to be followed, but also to be in the heart, so, those of us who, up to this point, avoided sin, no matter how we felt, now fall; because if we were truly righteous, we would not even want to transgress the law. We could at least pluck our eyes out to make it easy not to sin. Is that the good news of the Gospel?
The Gospel--Come unto me, and I will give you rest.
Works (keeping the law, avoiding sin, standing for righteousness, protesting abortion, giving money to the church and missions, giving to the poor, etc. . . .) does not fit in with the Gospel. The Gospel is the power of Yehovah unto salvation. Works is what we do as a result of what we believe. So, if we say that we believe that we are saved by the grace of Yehovah, but then we “try”, it shows that we don’t really trust in Yehoshua, but in works. If we love one another, it shows that we believe in Yehoshua’s commandment that we should love one another.
Now, comes the Good News. The Lamb of God paid for the sins of the world, and made us Free! All praise, honor, and glory go to Him. So, here is the covenant: we are to believe, and Yehoshua will save us. Is that simple enough?
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
=
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Rom 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Rom 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Gal 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Gal 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
In short: saved freely by his good pleasure, not because we keep the law. Our new “law” is to love one another.
Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
So, this is a matter of believing the Gospel, or not believing the Gospel. We need to make up our minds whether Salvation and blessing is by works, or by the gift of Yehovah. We can’t be saved by works, and blessed by grace, or somehow qualify for the salvation or blessing of Yehovah.
Is the good news only for the ones who are predisposed to be filled with, and walk in the Spirit, and the rest of us have to struggle with “true repentance“? (Look at the study on “Repentance”) Do we Glorify Yehoshua by being sinners, saved by his grace, or by being puritans who have overcome sin? Does baptism count if someone finds out that you didn’t truly repent? What if you are baptized by a minister who is actually a sinner who hasn‘t been caught yet? Who can you trust? Isn’t it such a mess?
Will we bring in the lost sheep by sharing the Gospel, and later reject them because they didn’t “truly repent”? Gays are forgiven and maintained by the same grace that forgives and maintains those of us who are divorced and remarried. A divorced man and divorced woman being married is not as readily observable as two men married, so it’s easy to point the finger, while hiding behind a facade of what is “normal”.
Luk 18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man [or gay, or abortionist, or adulterer, or smoker, or . . . ] to enter into the kingdom of God.
Luk 18:26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
Luk 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
This Gospel of Yehoshua the Messiah is what the world is missing because of the differing doctrines of differing churches with varying degrees of unbelief. We need to come off of the individual interpretations of the king’s English in the King James Version of the Bible, and get the Gospel from the Word of God by researching the original language in the Strong‘s Lexicon, face up to the truth, and teach it to the church, and teach it to the nations.
Luk 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Luk 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
