Praise
Psa 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praiseH1984 the LORD. PraiseH1984 ye the LORD.
Hey, look! Praise is the Hebrew word, “halal”, as in “Hallelujah”-- “Praise ye the LORD”.
Praise H1984 ha^lal haw-lal' A primitive root; to be clear (originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.
I still don’t know how we get --lu--. Apparently, it makes the phrase imperative.
The Lord H3050 ya^hh yaw Contracted for H3068, and meaning the same; Jah, the sacred name: - Jah, the Lord, most vehement. Cp. names in “-iah,” “-jah.”
Shine, show, boast, foolish, rave, celebrate . . . ‘sounds like what we do in church when they say “Let’s worship.” But praise and worship are not the same thing. Look at the study, “Worship”
Read Psalm 150. It looks like praise is where we find music, dance, and noise unto Yehovah.
Psa 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
Psa 150:2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Psa 150:3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Psa 150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Psa 150:5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Psa 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD
Psa 47:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
Psa 47:2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
Psa 47:3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
Psa 47:4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
Psa 47:5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Psa 47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Psa 47:7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
Psa 47:8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
Psa 47:9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
Is this right? Did we look in the right place to see the difference between worship and praise? Is this the truth, or confusion?
Is it confusion? No one is more confused than I am, and I need help to see the light.
Is it the truth? Drop your pride, give God the glory, and apply it to serve Him.
