The Curse of the Ground

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Because Adam ate of the tree:

Cursed is the ground,
In sorrow, shall he eat of it,
Thorns and thistles is all that will grow,
So, he will eat the herb of the field.
He will eat food in the sweat of his face
Until he dies.

Gen 5:28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
Gen 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

What did Lamech say about his son, Noah? Yes, there was something extraordinarily grievous about the curse of the ground. Apparently, the ground was bad enough to look forward to relief.

Today, do we not yield bountiful crops? Doesn’t God send his rain on the just and the unjust? Do we not routinely and elegantly sit down to a juicy steak, and red wine? Where are the thorns and thistles?--out in the field. Where is the curse?

Gen 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Gen 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

So, working for a living is not a curse, but a blessing.

Ecc 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecc 3:12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
Ecc 3:13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

Is this wrong? Then, I need help, and correction. Don’t let me lead the world astray with my ignorance.

Is this the truth, and God’s Word for us to know and understand? Repent: get a new attitude, and renew your mind according to the Word of God.
