Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,H226 and for seasons,H4150 and for days,H3117 and years:H8141
Gen 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven
to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Sign H226 אות, 'o^th, oth Probably from H225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.: - mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.
Exodus 4, Moses was to do the signs to show that Yehovah had appeared to him.
Exodus 13:6--9 The feast of Unleavened Bread is a sign(oth) and a memorial of Yehovah.
Exo 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
So, it looks like the signs that God did were miracles, and the signs that the children of Israel did were reminders to them of Yehovah. Signs are something that a man can see that indicates the work of God.
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
The Greek word has similar meaning:
Sign G4592 σημειον sēmeion say-mi'-on Neuter of a presumed derivative of the base of G4591; an indication, especially ceremonially or supernaturally: - miracle, sign, token, wonder.

Mat 16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
Mat 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face
of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Mat 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Matt 24 They asked Jesus what would be the signG4592 of his coming, and he described what men do in the last days: the sign. After that, the stars fall from the sky(not a sign), and the sign of the Son of Man appears.
Through Acts, signs were accompanied by wonders or miracles.
1Co 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
By studying the Word of God, we’ve been led away from horoscopes and astrology. Yehovah never used the stars, moon, planets, or sun to convey his foreknowledge or will. [Someone correct me, if I’m wrong.]
