Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

This is the only verse in the Bible that mentions “willful sin”. Having an understanding based on only the king’s English, a preacher would have to describe a situation in which a Christian sins to the point where the blood of Jesus isn’t good enough to save.

But, what if we use the Strong’s Numbers to look at the word “sin”?

Heb 10:26 ForG1063 if weG2257 sinG264 wilfullyG1596 after that we have receivedG2983 theG3588 knowledgeG1922 of theG3588 truth,G225 there remainethG620 no moreG3765 sacrificeG2378 forG4012 sins,G266

Look. There’s a different number(so, there are different words) for the same English word “sin”.

Hamartano is the word that means to be wrong. It's not a watered-down definition for "sin".
Sin G264
αμαρταìνω
hamartanō
ham-ar-tan'-o
Perhaps from G1 (as a negative particle) and the base of G3313; properly to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), that is, (figuratively) to err, especially (morally) to sin

Hamartia is the word that fit’s the biblical definition of sin:
Sin G266
αμαρτιìα
hamartia
ham-ar-tee'-ah
From G264; sin (properly abstract)

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sinG266 transgresseth also the law: for sinG266 is the transgression of the law.

So, now:

Heb 10:26 For if we (err) wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for (transgressions),
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Let us consider
G2657
κατανοεìω
katanoeō
kat-an-o-eh'-o
From G2596 and G3539; to observe fully

Then, we need to look at it in its context, and the meaning comes to light:

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more (the Gospel).
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way (the Gospel), which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near (to the fellowship) with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24 And Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together(steering clear of being observed and exhorted), as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin(miss the mark) wilfully(by steering clear of being observed and exhorted) after that we have received the knowledge of the truth(that He remembers our sins and iniquities no more), there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins(transgressions)(verse29),
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath(willfully missed the mark) trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified(the Gospel--sins remembered no more), an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

So, from this exegetic study, it looks like the willful sin is actually the willful error (which is not inadvertent) of rejecting the grace of the Gospel in favor of holding on to the old way of the law.
